I’ve decided I’m going to launch a podcast. Mostly - it’s going to be an audio expression of what I already do here. A lot of the episodes will likely be paired up with a recent blog post, or expansions on existing posts on this site in a different format.
It’s called “One Million Bytes” - I have registered onemillionbytes.com and 1e6.dev as domains, but for now the podcast is hosted on this site, on the podcast page. You can listen without a podcast player there.
Why?
Why am I doing this? Mostly, it’s for self-improving my speaking. I want to improve my ability to speak on technical topics at length, without much scripting. Definitely a goal to aspire to - I have bulleted outlines of topics to cover and there’s a little bit more organization up-front than I would ideally like. Maybe I’ll bring on some guests too, as that’s kind of a different kind of episode than solo diving into a tech topic.
I recorded a few test episodes - which quickly turned into highly scripted things, which I wasn’t a fan of. The inaugural episode is a deeper dive into my hacking on the pebble watch sdk / toolchain (which I had previously blogged about here)
Audience
Honestly, the audience is mostly for myself. I’m publishing it as supplemental content to this site, but I’m not planning at least initially to try and market it all to much. If anything happens organically, I’ll take it, but I think I’m going to work to get it off the ground first.
